Changes to the Residential Tenancies Act

Renting?

You need to know these important changes to the Residential Tenancies Act that come into force on the 11th February 2021.

From February 11th, renters can ask to make changes to the property and landlords must not decline if the change is minor.

This makes it easier for renters to make their homes safer for their children and family by making minor changes including things like:

  • installing window latches

  • putting up baby gates

  • installing TV and furniture safety straps to stop furniture falling
