Starship Children's Health is committed to providing a smokefree environment for children and families. If you and your child are coming to Starship and you are a smoker, please be aware that the Auckland District Health Board has a Smokefree Policy. This means that smoking is not permitted anywhere within the hospital grounds. This applies to everyone: patients, family members, visitors and staff.
The best thing you can do for your own health and wellbeing and that of your family, is to stop smoking. Help is available to family and whanau from the ADHB Smokefree Services Team. They can provide you with support, information and Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) to help you manage your nicotine craving while you are with your child in Starship, and even help you quit smoking for good.
For advice and support call (09) 3074949 ext 27867. Leave your name and contact details on the answering service. A Smokefree Facilitator will either contact you by telephone or meet with you at the hospital.
Alternatively you can contact the Quitline on 0800 778 778.
