  • Community based paediatric Senior Social Worker

  • Full-time, permanent position (40 hours per week)

  • Monday – Friday, Greenlane Clinical Centre

Starship Community provides interdisciplinary care and cultural support to children, young people and their whānau living within the Auckland DHB area. Our service is made up of three locality based community teams, a central service and a hearing and ear health department. We have a mixture of nursing, allied health and technical staff delivering a range of health care services including well child/ tamariki ora; child development, acute and long term medical care.

We are committed to delivering whānau -centered care that focuses on the health and wellbeing of children and their whānau. Getting to know our communities, working closely with them, removing inequities and barriers to health care for priority populations, are key drivers for us each day.

We are currently seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our community service full-time to support children and their whānau who have high health and social needs in the community. The senior role will also support the social work team and lead practice and improvement innovations. Alongside the breadth of social work services delivered, the social work team also provides Healthy Homes’ assessments. Care is delivered to children, young people, and their whānau in their home; school and community setting.

As a Senior Social Worker in Starship Community you will be an experienced practitioner in child, family/ whānau social work including child protection. You will have previously work experience in a community setting and have the ability to work autonomously. You will ideally have experience working with Māori and Pasifika communities and have an overriding passion for paediatrics and serving our communities.

You will have proven leadership skills that will support the social work team and wider inter-disciplinary team; you will also have proven skill in leading clinical education and quality improvement projects.

We would love to hear from qualified Social Workers with:

  • NZ registration and a current APC to practice as a Social Worker

  • A full, clean and current driver’s license as this role will involve driving an ADHB pool car

  • Experienced practitioners with previous experience working in a health setting and/ or child protection

  • Leadership and quality improvement experience

  • Experience or a qualification in supervision would be advantageous
