New World became a Five Star Partner of the Starship Foundation in 2014 and in this short time has made a big impact.
New World has truly brought their love of food to Starship children and their families.
New World is delighted to be part of the Starship family and we are thrilled to be able to support the incredible efforts of this world class children's hospital. As a proud New Zealand owned and operated business we are committed to being a positive part of the communities in which we operate and we are pleased that our sponsorship is making a real difference for so many New Zealand families from around the country.Steve Anderson, Managing Director NewWorld
New World are generously funding Starship's ground breaking Multi-Disciplianry Feeding Clinic which is weaning children off tube feeds and teaching them to eat and drink. The trial is proving successful and now with the help of New World, many more children will be able to have experiences many of us take for granted, such as eating their own birthday cake for the first time.
To support parents and caregivers, who are caring for sick children, twice per week New World delivers a box of fresh fruit to the parent kitchens on each ward. In addition they provide funds for Starsihp's play therapists to run cooking classes for Starship Kids.
New Worlds Little Shop and Little Kitchen range have been the ultimate collectables for Kiwi Children but have also proven to be an exceptional resource for the Starship Consult-Liason Team. The Team use the collectables in the treatment of children with extreme food anxiety problems such as food allergies and oral aversion.
Along with funding life saving equipment, New Word have also given Starship boys and girls the once in a lifetime experience of taking part in a Silver Ferns game. This is a 'money can't buy' experience and helps bring some special Starship magic to kiwi children.
In 2017 New World's Little Garden's campaign included a Starflower Collectible Seedling to raise money for Starship. The Starflower was available for a $1 donation at New World Super Markets throughout New Zealand and raised $150k. To celebrate the launch of Little Garden, which was all about birds and bees, New World hosted a Stars of Starship concert with young patients. Check out the fun that was had that day.
