Mobile Phone Appeal

Your old phone isn't worth much.

Just a life or two.

By recycling your old mobile phone you can raise funds for Starship's National Air Ambulance, an invaluable service that flies medical experts to emergencies around the country and brings children back to Starship for lifesaving care.

Donating your old mobile phone

  • Spark, Vodafone and 2degrees all have mobile phone drop off points in their stores. Just ask at the counter.
  • Freepost envelopes are regularly inserted into national newspapers and magazines. Simply pop your old mobile phone in one of these envelopes and drop it in your nearest post box.
  • If you have a large quantity of phones, simply package them in a box, and email wendyn@swapkit.co.nz or call us on 09 377 4750 for address details.
  • During the months of June and July 2015 you can also drop off your mobile phones to Auckland Council's main centres which are located across the region. The phones are being collected at the following locations: Pukekohe service centre, Papakura service centre, Manukau service centre, Central Auckland service centre, Takapuna service centre, Orewa service centre and Henderson service centre.

When sending in your phone, please ensure the app 'Find my iPhone' is deactivated on the device. This ensures the phone is removed from your iCloud account.

We are happy to receive any make and model of mobile phone regardless of condition.

Supporting Starship's National Air Ambulance

In just six years over one million phones have been donated to the appeal. This has raised over $2.3million for the Starship National Air Ambulance Service!

The Starship National Air Ambulance flies top medical experts to life-threatening emergencies anywhere across the country. A highly trained team of specialists stabilise the children to allow them to be brought safely to Starship Hospital where they can receive the very best of care that they need. The Starship Foundation is committed to fundraising $1.5million annually for this life-saving service. Learn more about the Starship National Air Ambulance Service.

What happens to the old phones?

The mobile phones that are donated which still have a useful life get refurbished and resold into third world countries. There are a small number that can no longer be used and these are broken down and recycled in an environmentally friendly way.
