CT - Orbit

Note:

Do not use XCARE for orbital scans.
Saphire 2 on all reconstructions.

Indication - trauma
- proptosis
- cellulitis
- infection
- ? tumour
- foreign body
Patient Preparation 4 hours nil by mouth
Patient Position Head first, supine, in head rest with OML perpendicular. Patient needs to close their eyes while being scanned
Scan Area - Start at the hard palate
- Finish superior to the frontal sinuses.

May require the head to be scanned as well. In this case use the adult head protocol to include the orbits and reformat the orbits separately - d/w Radiologist.
