Starship Celebrates Christmas
23.12.2009 |
This year Starship celebrated Christmas in style with its annual Christmas Party held on Wednesday 9th December.
Children from all areas of the hospital crowded into the Atrium for a spectacular show featuring girl group Awkward Silence from the Lewis Eady Music School, followed by the ever popular Popsicle Band.
Captain Starship also joined the festivities to help kick off the main show - a Christmas singalong with the Love to Sing choir and some of our favourite celebrities - MC Jordan Vandermere from Studio 2, Simon Dallow, Shane Cortese and players from the Breakers basketball team.
The kids then got to count down to the arrival of Santa in the glass elevator. This year Santa was delivered to Starship by a Royal New Zealand Navy helicopter as a special treat to cancer patient Regan Robertson who also celebrated his 13th birthday on the day. Regan was lucky enough to take a spin around the city in the chopper with Santa before he was due at the party.
At the end of the show Santa and our celebrity helpers visited all the wards to deliver presents to the children. Thank you to everyone who helped make a magical day for Starship kids! |
