Cafes and Shops on Park Road
 So many shops and so close by
Two minutes walk from the hospital, in Park Road, there are places to purchase food including a superette, several cafes, and and lunch bars.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Dial-up Meals
 
If you would like takeaways delivered to the ward, there are a variety of dial-up meals advertised in the Yellow Pages. Please let the ward clerk know that a meal has been ordered.
 
 

Food on the Wards
 
A quiet place off the ward for families
Breakfast is provided for one caregiver staying with their child in hospital. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided. All wards have a microwave, toaster and fridge in the ward kitchen. Some wards have a separate parent kitchen.
 
Other meals are not provided, except in special circumstances in which case the caregiver should consult a social worker to see if they qualify for meal vouchers.
 
  

Meal Vouchers
 
Meal Vouchers for parents or caregivers are given in the following circumstances:

  • Mothers who are breastfeeding or expressing and staying with their child in Starship
  • Caregivers requiring emergency support for first 24 hours of admission
  • Where social work assessment has decided there is extreme financial hardship
The vouchers are available from the Charge Nurse or Social Worker and may be redeemed at the Auckland City Hospital staff cafeteria.

Follow the signs through Starship Outpatients.

Located in the Galleria on 5, Auckland City Hospital Support Building.
Open: 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm Saturday and Sunday.

Located in the Galleria on 5, level 5 Auckland City Hospital Support Building.
Open: 6:30am to 8:00pm 7 days a week.
 
 

Supermarkets

A good selection of snacksThere is a Kwikimart grocery store on level five Auckland City Hospital Support Builidng.
Open: 7:00am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday, Saturday 9:00 to 5:00pm. Sunday 9:00 to 4:00pm.
 
There is a superette on Park Road.

There is a Woolworths Supermarket in the "277" shopping complex on Broadway in Newmarket. You can get there by taking the Link Bus from Park Road. For information on buses look under How to Find Us.


Te Whare Awhina

If you wish to cook a meal, there is a kitchen and dining room in the Whanau Accommodation - Te Whare Awhina. Please ask staff for directions.

Located on level three of Starship.
(Coffee, sandwiches, salads, cakes, muffins, milkshakes, hot meals)

Open: 7 days a week. Opening times Hours 07:00am - 7:00pm Monday to Friday, 10:30am - 6:00pm Weekends.
